5 Little Monkeys

Inspired by My Children & a Simple Love for Sleep

 When my daughters were ready to leave their cribs and move into their first big girl beds, I discovered there was not a mattress on the marketplace specifically designed for the needs of children. This was a shock to us because my family has been in the bedding business for over 100 years, and I was amazed I had never noticed this glaring need in the market.

Simply put, the bedding industry has never made children's mattresses a priority. The choices for children's mattresses have been quality mattresses designed with adults in mind, or poor quality mattresses that are passed off as "good enough for kids."

I knew how important sleep was for proper mental and physical development, so I wanted something better for my daughters. With my expertise in the bedding industry and a few years of parenting under my belt, I set out to create the ideal mattress sleep system for kids. I spent months testing materials, creating layouts, and tweaking designs until I found all the best components needed in a kids mattress that helped my daughters get to sleep faster, sleep more soundly through the night, and wake up feeling rested, refreshed, and healthy.

  • Allergies

Behind Your 5 Little Monkeys' Kids Mattress

Once upon a time, in 1945, there was a bed maker named Irving Harrow who founded a small company called Hollywood Bed. He would hand make his beds until they were just right. Each afternoon, he would load up what he made that morning in his station wagon and deliver them to his customers.

When Irving's son Larry rose to the helm in the 1970s, Hollywood Bed grew its capabilities and product line. He invested in state-of-the-art equipment and demanded only the finest bedding products in the industry.

In 1997, Larry's son, Jason Harrow, started working at the company and took over the operation in 2010. He further grew the company to supply some of most significant retailers and hotel brands in the world, while keeping quality as the #1 priority. Inspired by his two girls, Jason decided to create the ideal sleep system mattress for kids...and 5 Little Monkeys was born! Today, we provide toddler mattresses for children throughout the country!

For me, 5 Little Monkeys started with a simple question: if sleep is so important for growing kids, why wasn’t there a mattress made just for them?

As a parent and bedding expert, I wanted to create something better from the ground up. A children’s mattress with thoughtful design, supportive comfort, and organic, safe materials chosen for real family life.

The Challenge

Study after study proves the importance of good rest for child development. But before we created 5 Little Monkeys, we couldn’t find a sleep system with children’s needs in mind.
